"The Work of Teaching"
I began this project by thinking about the story I wanted to tell. What led me to this place? Why am I interested in these things? What do I hope to accomplish through my research? Beyond considering written words on a page, I thought about the spoken word and the specific affordances this mode of communication provides. For this project, video provided a different lens through which to view my own research interests and explore ways to communicate these interests to others. The use of video encouraged the telling of a story through the use of music, vocal pauses, and transitions. Pictures and videos helped to create metaphorical imagery that offered viewers opportunities for deeper connection and interpretation. Digital storytelling provides a unique opportunity to communicate a compelling, inspiring story to a wide and diverse audience.
